This is an amazing card and I'm completely satisfied with this purchase. I bought this card in hopes it would help speed up encoding 720/1080p movies in x264.
For example my vga is built on the motherboard and would take an average of 8+ hours to encode a 2hr movie at 720p, it's was horrible in that aspect.
When I encode the same movie with the Asus GTS450 & CUDA Acceleration enabled, it's down to 28 minutes. It's just unbelievable!! This is a stock graphics card at stock speeds & no overclocking. Install most 3rd party video converting software that uses CUDA-enabled video encoding technology, and you're good to go.
My windows experience index went from a 4.9 to a whopping 7.3 and overall I notice big boost in my system performance using my old Intel based motherboard, Core2 Duo Processor,4gb RAM, BD Player, 2TB HD, 550w PS & 22" monitor and Win7 x64 Ulimate edition.
Please note, you will need extra power from a 6-pin connector to run this card. This card does come with a power adapter - if your power supply does not have a cable with that 6pin PCIe connector. This adapter takes two 4pin molex connectors and converts to one 6pin PCIe connector. I have a 550w ps and it worked fine.
No regrets with this purchase. I did consider the GTX460 for a $100 more, but you would need two (2) 6pin PCIe connectors to power it up, and I would had to dump another $100+ for a beefier power supply. This would of put me way over budget.
